NEED TO KNOW checklist
#tyrathedog
We have a huge and friendly Tyra! A rather large rescue dog. Like many rescue dogs, she had a bad previous life and we are gradually knocking out all her demons, one by one. We have had her 2019 and she is part of our household. Sometimes excitable, often floppy, nearly always very generous with her licks. She is not allowed access to bedrooms or bathrooms, and accesses living areas by invite only! She is also very defensive of her home, and not welcoming in any way to other animals. Work in progress! However we cannot welcome your pets to our home.
#gigithedog
Gigi arrived in 2024, as a "leftover" that no-one could take in from a litter of pups born in a nearby property. She is absolutely cute and loves cuddles, but will CHEW anything and everything she finds lying around! You have been warned 😀.
Our dogs mostly stay on our property. We have double gates everywhere to ensure they do not get out by mistake! Guests are welcome to take Gigi out for a walk if they would like to do that.
Transport
Your absolutely do need transport here. We are just 1.6 km from civilisation (nearest supermarket and coffee shops) and 3 km from a town with station, swimming pool and everything you need. But we are up a steep hill, and the woods are mighty dark at night.
You absolutely do need a car. You definitely do need to be independent to be able to get around. There is NO public transport to our house, there are no taxis and we have no Uber in Italy.
Our home is not mobility friendly
Our house was started in the 15th century and had multiple add-ons over the following centuries. There are gravel, grass, mud and paved areas outside. There are a total of 9 staircases across the whole property, and steps between many of the adjoining rooms. We are NOT suitable for anyone in a wheelchair and probably for anyone with severe mobility issues.
Trash/rubbish
We do our best to keep our environmental impact as low as possible. We have recycle bins everywhere in the house. We ask you to the follow the rules the very best you can.
No children under 12
Our home is built into the hillside, there are many staircases, plenty of places to "jump from" to the next level down etc, hidden nooks and crannies, plus our property is spread over 6 different levels and not all are visible from a single vantage point. This is not a suitable home for under 12s. It's awesome if you want a complete work out every single day!
Energy saving
We work hard at keeping our energy bills as low as possible., which makes our B&B activity sustainable. We need everyone to give a helping hand in order to achieve that goal. #dobl
